The Eaton's Neck Fire Department hosted its 45th Annual Independence Day Parade on Monday, July 4. Former Fire Commissioner Walter Roy Beach, who turned 90 on July 4 and has over 63 years in the volunteer fire service, served as grand marshal of the parade. Beach served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and took part in the Normandy landings on D-Day. He has been a member of the Eaton's Neck Fire Department for 43 years, where he served for 30 years as Fire Commissioner. Before joining Eaton's Neck, Beach served for 20 years in the Levittown Fire Department.
The members of the Eaton's Neck Fire Department assembled on Sunday, June 26 to dedicate a new memorial garden and flagpole. The garden is named in memory of Second Assistant Chief Kevin J. Brandon and is dedicated to those who served the Eaton's Neck Fire Department and have answered their last alarm.
